What I Do

Hello, I'm Jay Dormer

Alongside being the Producer of Heart Breakfast with Ed, Troy and Paulina five days a week on Heart FM, I also host, DJ, and produce a large number of events every month.

For me, there's no better part of my week than seeing people have the time of their life making memories and i started Make It A Success 10years ago to provide people with an unforgettable night and it’s gone from strength to strength receiving five out of five customer reviews.

Make It A Success offers an experienced DJ with professional equipment fully PAT tested for safety and Public Liability Insurance. We’ll get to know you and your guests to ensure every event is a success whether it’s a Wedding, Birthday Party, Anniversary, Children’s Party, Corporate Event, Retirement or Charity Fundraiser.

For me, it's about making the night memorable and going the extra mile to give you the service you want; not another cheesy mobile disco, a professional DJ willing to adapt for your event.

Finding a DJ that can provide a valid PAT test certificate and Public Liability Insurance is essential basics. It’ll ensure your disco is allowed to setup in your venue and is operating to basic safety standards. Make It A Success has £10,000,000 of PLI and is a member of Mobile DJ Network and is DJ Mark Verified to reassure you of our professionalism.

All bookings are confirmed in writing and you’ll know who your DJ is from the moment you book, so there’s no surprises. We also spend time preparing for each event before the day getting to know you, your guests and the venue. We’ll schedule a time to suit you for a chat about music, timings and colour schemes/themes. Of course you can always get in touch with your ideas or questions but it’s also good to schedule an opportunity which often covers things you may not have thought about for your party, at the end of the day we’ve been to a lot more parties than your guests have so we have the experience.

When you're organising your event you'll probably spend a fair bit of time thinking about the venue, the decor etc and the last thing you want is a mobile disco turning up and spoiling the look with messy wires and old tired equipment. We’ll ensure we bring appropriate professional, industry standard equipment for your event, venue and event design.


Personal service for a very personal event

We’ve been to more events than your guests…having DJ’d at hundred of events every year we have a deep knowledge of music styles but also music programming and what songs work well together, how music can build the atmosphere throughout the night and when certain songs should be played to get full effect.

It's important to keep the music flowing throughout the evening, covering a range of genres without making drastic changes but moving on before the crowd gets bored. It's an art, forever challenging with a constant evolving audience. Every event is different and unique.

To help us get a good understanding of the music you and your guests might enjoy we provide a unique webpage log in for your guests to use and suggest song request building up to the day allowing us to know what music they would enjoy before we even arrive. It’s also important to understand what music you, as the organiser, would not want us to play. The more we know the better we can prepare for your event and make it a success giving all your guests an unforgettable night. We spend a lot of time preparing…the DJ’s that don’t should prepare to fail.
